A simple book re-design.

Howl’s Moving Castle has a special place in my heart. While in my teens, this story helped me realize the magic and wonder that is self-discovery. Because of this, I wanted to re-design the cover, and interior of the book in my own style, as a tribute. Covers’ of this book are normally made up of detailed images of characters in the book, (a wizard, a fire demon, and or a moving castle).

I wanted to take similar imagery, but break it down into something more simple, but still filled with magic and wonder. By creating a hand-lettered title, along with illustrations that show up throughout the story, paired with soft yet legable typefaces for the back cover and interior, this re-design stays true to the theme of the book but showcases its’ fantasy in a new light.
